Craig Fuller: Chief Executive Officer & Founder

Craig Fuller is the founder and CEO of FreightWaves, the leading provider of global supply chain market intelligence and news. Prior to FreightWaves, Craig was the founder of TransCard, a major provider of fleet fuel and debit cards. He is also the CEO of FLYING Magazine, the world’s most widely read aviation magazine. Previously, Fuller founded the Xpress Direct division of US Xpress, a leading provider of on-demand expedited truckload services. He holds a BBA from Baylor University and is a private pilot. He lives with his wife and 5 kids in Chattanooga, TN.

Spencer Piland, Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer

Spencer is the CFO and COO of FreightWaves. Spencer is a startup veteran, leading finance teams through periods of hyper-growth at four venture-backed startups: Namely, Plated, NJOY and LivingSocial. Over the course of his career, Spencer has played key roles in over $700mm in equity capital raises, $150mm in debt capital raises and $3bn of M&A transactions.

He joined Namely prior to the Series D to build the company’s FP&A department and lead the investor relations, sales operations and real estate functions. Spencer joined Plated following the close of the Series B where he ran strategic finance (FP&A, Corp Dev, IR and Strategic Planning). He ran point as the company’s “internal investment banker” on the company’s successful exit to Albertsons and the subsequent integration.

Spencer began his career as an analyst at Stephens Inc. in Little Rock, AR in the company’s corporate investment banking division. He later spent time at Blackstreet Capital Management, a $100mm special situations private equity group. Spencer earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas where he met his wife, Jessica. In his free time, Spencer enjoys playing tennis, watching college football and grilling out.

Daniel Pickett, CFA: Chief Data Science & Technology Officer

Daniel Pickett leads the FreightWaves data science team collecting, cleaning and analyzing freight market data to drive actionable insights in the freight markets. The data team is focused on finding industry activity metrics to inform the freight/logistics community about market conditions at the local (not national) level. Using his career blend of technology and capital markets, Daniel is also focused on what real-time logistics data can provide regarding the health of the economy, the consumer and global trade.

Kevin Martin, Chief Legal Officer

Kevin Martin is Chief Legal Officer of FreightWaves. In this role he manages all compliance and legal matters for the Company, driving the proactive culture of compliance essential to success in a dynamic environment. His background is in consumer finance, enterprise payments, and compliance, with 20 years of legal experience including over a decade in fintech, having served as the Chief Compliance and Legal Officer of two startups that are disrupting the payment space. 

With his background in highly regulated, rapidly evolving and technology driven organizations,  he has spent his professional career providing a blend of legal and business advice while representing his clients’ interests in industry trade associations and before regulatory agencies.
